Tuesday 26th May service at 12.00 phone 0330 606 0403 PIN 546789# from 11.50

Preparation

          O God, make speed to save us.
All      O Lord, make haste to help us.
          Gladden the soul of your servant,
All      for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.   Psalm 86.4

Praise
The Song of Christ’s Glory

            1 Christ Jesus was in the form of God, but he did not cling to equality with God.
All      2 He emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, and was born in our human likeness.
            3 Being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.
All      4 Therefore God has highly exalted him, and bestowed on him the name above every name,
            5 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
All      6 And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.   Philippians 5:2-11

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;
             as it was in the beginning is now and shall be for ever. Amen.

The Word of God

Psalm 29

Refrain:    The Lord shall give his people the blessing of peace.
1    Ascribe to the Lord, you powers of heaven, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2    Ascribe to the Lord the honour due to his name;  worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
3    The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders;  the Lord is upon the mighty waters.
Refrain:    The Lord shall give his people the blessing of peace.
4    The voice of the Lord is mighty in operation; the voice of the Lord is a glorious voice.
5    The voice of the Lord breaks the cedar trees the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon;
6    He makes Lebanon skip like a calf and Sirion like a young wild ox.
Refrain:    The Lord shall give his people the blessing of peace.
7    The voice of the Lord splits the flash of lightning; the voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
8    The voice of the Lord makes the oak trees writhe and strips the forests bare; in his temple all cry, ‘Glory!’
9    The Lord sits enthroned above the water flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king for evermore.
10  The Lord shall give strength to his people; the Lord shall give his people the blessing of peace.
Refrain:    The Lord shall give his people the blessing of peace.

Open our ears, glorious Lord Christ, to hear the music of your voice above the chaos of this world;
open our eyes to see the vision of your glory, for you are our King, now and for ever.

             Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;
             as it was in the beginning is now and shall be for ever. Amen.

A Short Reading

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7

Response

Being made one by the power of the Spirit,
as our Saviour taught us, so we pray

Either

All         Our Father in heaven,
            hallowed be your name,
            your kingdom come,
            your will be done,
            on earth as in heaven.
            Give us today our daily bread.
            Forgive us our sins
            as we forgive those who sin against us.
            Lead us not into temptation
            but deliver us from evil.
            For the kingdom, the power,
            and the glory are yours
            now and for ever.
            Amen.

Or

All         Our Father,  who art in heaven,
            hallowed be thy name;
            thy kingdom come;
            thy will be done;
            on earth as it is in heaven.
            Give us this day our daily bread.
            And forgive us our trespasses,
            as we forgive those who trespass against us.
            And lead us not into temptation;
            but deliver us from evil.
            For thine is the kingdom,
            the power and the glory,
            for ever and ever.
            Amen.
